During a conversation with some Indian travellers that evening, we learnt that there was not 1 more hour to go as we had thought, but 12. The train was due to arrive at 6am the next morning.

However, leaving the station, something caught my eye. The train which we were planning on getting in a day or two, that would take us on to Gokarna, left this station at 2pm. So, after a short discussion we decided to go find a beach, stay there for 8 hours, then come back and get the connection to Gokarna.

That's all for today, we'll post again when there is more to say.

Sounds like a fun journey. What's the gooey stuff that looks like rice pudding which has come alive?
ReplyDeleteDrink some Tharra.
ReplyDeleteThat shit will end you, it's like 90% alcohol
Great pictures and great stories! What a pity about the rain in Goa, but glad to hear you are getting into chai. How do you cope with the sugar? If you make it further south try Shravanabelagola and stay in an ashram.
ReplyDeleteHindi lession no.2: don't miss any opportunity to ask the banana sellers: "Kai-le meeta hay?" Are the bananas sweet? But you have to buy a few...
yes, what IS that white stuff?
ReplyDeleteHow have you planned where you want to go? Is it researched, or just random "That looks like it might be worth a look"?
still, it all looks good, including missed connections: all part of the adventure.
Katie told me to check this out, although now I'm SO JEALOUS.
